Our mission is to raise the political profile of science and engineering. We passionately believe in the economic and cultural importance of scientific and technological education and development, and the vital need for the funding of this research by Government and industry. The strength of our policy advocacy is due to our political networks, independent analysis, broad membership, and responsiveness.
We achieve our objectives by:
- Working with a wide range of industrialists, educationalists, researchers and academics involved in science and engineering
- Commenting in the media and interacting with backbench Parliamentarians to keep science policy at the forefront of the public agenda
- Publishing analyses, briefings and responses to public consultations
- Meeting directly with ministers, civil servants, Parliamentarians, and advisers in Westminster, Whitehall, Edinburgh, Cardiff, and Belfast.
You can view our policy work and recommendations under Campaigns and Publications.
We receive no government funding – our work is supported entirely by our members.
