CaSE representation to 2021 Spending Review
13 Oct 2021
CaSE has been undertaking a significant body of work ahead of this years crucial Spending Review. Alongside this formal representation, we produced a five point roadmap to enable the UK to become a ‘science superpower’.Â
Last week CaSE published analysis shows the effect of the Government delaying reaching its R&D target by three years – a potential loss of £11bn of private investment. CaSE has also published further analysis showing that the UK has stagnated on R&D over last 20 years as comparator nations have rushed forward, and that the UK target for the next five years is least ambitious of comparator nations – other nations pushing for much further and faster R&D growth.
CaSE also joined 32 other leading organisations to call on the Chancellor to use the upcoming Spending Review to commit to delivering £22bn of public investment in R&D by 2024/25.
